The obstacle is the way.Marcus Aurelius
A quiet dose of wisdom, every day.
One hand-picked quote at a time — from the Stoics, poets and thinkers whose words have outlived centuries. Citatum is a calm corner of your phone, and it works with no connection at all.
What it is
A feed you swipe, not a list you scroll past.
Thousands of quotes, full screen, one at a time, set in typefaces chosen for each theme rather than dropped into a template. Double-tap to like. Share any quote as a card that looks composed rather than screenshotted.
Works offline
Every quote ships inside the app. No connection needed to read, like, share or be reminded.
No accounts
Nothing to sign up for. Your likes, history and streak are stored on your device and nowhere else.
Typographic themes
Serif on paper, mono on a terminal, light through an aurora — each one contrast-checked for readability.
Daily reminders
Choose when and how often. Every notification is a quote in itself — like or share it without opening the app.
Home-screen widget
A new thought waiting for you every morning at six, rendered in your current theme.
Topics that follow you
Love, courage, time, fortune, truth. Pick what speaks to you and both the feed and your reminders adapt.
Languages
Fully translated, not machine-guessed.
Every quote pack, every screen and both legal documents exist in five languages. Citatum follows your system language, or you can pick one yourself.

The quotes
Public domain, shown with attribution.
Citatum draws on historical texts that have passed into the public domain, each shown with its source. Translations may be interpretive, and attribution of very old sayings is never perfectly certain — where a quote is traditionally credited to someone, that is what you will see.
The app is free and supported by occasional ads between quotes. What it is not supported by is your data: there are no accounts, no analytics of ours, and nothing you do in the app is sent anywhere. The privacy policy sets out exactly what the advertising does and does not involve.
